Dick Boyd was born in Nebraska City and spent 10 years in retail sales and 33 years in education, retiring from the Council Bluffs school system in 1990. He and his wife Miriam have four children, eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

They have been involved in music and theater for over fifty years. They have sung in church and community choirs, and the Omaha Opera. Theatrically, they have been involved in the Omaha Community Playhouse, Chanticleer, The Bellevue Theater, The Kingsmark Theater, The JCC, Grande Olde Players, Dundee Dinner Theater and others.

Dick is best known for his thirty-year portrayal of Ebenezer Scrooge at the Omaha Community Playhouse.
