The Maynard Triplets,
Erin, Missy, and Mandy grew up in Omaha, the oldest in a family of 6
girls. Music was always a big part of their lives, with both parents
being huge Barry Manilow fans. As little girls, they would put on
concerts in their basement for their family. At age 3, the girls
performed for their first time on stage at Omaha's Show Wagon. Following
that, they were in numerous plays, country music festivals, and they
even sang at the Pentagon. When they were 16, they released their first
CD, Take Three, singing the songs of Karen Javitch, Chuck Penington and
a few they had written themselves.
The Maynards decided to try their luck on American Idol. The panel liked
their sound as a group but to their disappointment, Simon Cowell said
they looked like "overweight Jessica Simpsons".
Moments after their stint on Idol aired, the Triplet's lives changed
forever. They were flown to California where they walked red carpets and
got their first taste of stardom.
They were featured regularly on Extra and also appeared on Inside
Edition, Access Hollywood, Good Day Live, Celebrity Justice, and
Entertainment Tonight. They appeared in Star Magazine and TV Guide. They
met their idol, Barry Manilow, who invited them to open his act in Las
vegas.
But it hasn't been easy transitioning from Nebraska to L.A. Mandy,
Missy, and Erin have taken this last year as a time to find themselves
and decide what they want to do with their music. "We have seen the best
and the worst that this town has to offer and at times we have almost
thrown in the towel," said Erin, "But in the end we have each other and
we know that no matter what happens, that will never change. We just
want to share our music with the world."
Deciding to stick with their midwestern roots, the girls are in the
process of recording a country demo and will move to Nashville soon. |
