Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes) is an American singer-songwriter born in Omaha. His mother, Nancy, claims that he was banging on the piano and singing since he was two. His father, Matthew Sr. was a musician in his youth and he and Matthew Jr. began teaching Conor the guitar when he was 10. By the time he knew two chords, he was writing songs.

He officially began his recording career at the age of 13 and has since produced an enormous amount of material. Rolling Stone has referred to him as "rock's boy genius". His current project is Bright Eyes, and he is also guitarist and singer for the band, Desaparecidos.

Oberst is one of the founding members of the independent record label, Saddle Creek Records. His broadcast television performances include a spot on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 2005, The Late Show with David Letterman and The Late Show with Craig Ferguson.

Oberst was a member of the Vote for Change tour in 2004 with Bruce Springsteen and R.E.M. He has recently started his own label, Team Love.

Thank you, Conor, for donating your beautiful song, First Day of My Life, to this album.
